Music theater for string quartet and ad libitum soprano
Premiered 2015 at International Contemporary Arts Fesitival in Sibiu/Romania
In 2015 Miika Hyytiäinen was the composer in residency at IconArts Festival in Sibiu. Part of this honor was the possibility to compose a piece for internationally acclaimed string quartet ConTempo. The result was a music theatre piece ”Fourth” which plays with social constructions: In the social medias different choreographies, musical quotes and words associated with the word ”fourth” were collected and then used as musical, spoken or danced material in the performance. Also the social relationships between the players were an important part of the piece.
In the premier the soprano Lydia Bechtel sung the ad libitum part for the soprano.
